Subsurface Utility Mapping Beneath 200 Years of Change

Beneath Dorchester Avenue sit two centuries of relocated pipe, abandoned lines, and a subway tunnel. Most of that history never made it into the utility records. For the $20 million MassDOT Dorchester Ave Bridge Reconstruction, DGT paired archival research and our own Big Dig-era knowledge of the corridor with wide-array GPR to map what’s actually in the ground to ASCE 38-22 Quality Level B. That data will guide the design team from engineering through construction.
